Watch it, watch it! April 2021

“WATCH IT, WATCH IT!”
THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER FOR AUTISTIC INTERPRETATIONS®

Welcome! I am Val. My adult daughter Jess and I live together and have a loving and fun relationship. We share our daily adventures, travels, struggles, and the strong loving village that surrounds us.

Hard to believe we are already one quarter of the way through 2021. March brought lots of firsts: vaccines, Zoom pizza party with Club Crispy, first YouTube Live, first Facebook Live, Zoe’s first major haircut, and we hit 10,000 subscribers on YouTube!

I’m inspired by so many firsts to pick up some healthy habits and that’s exactly what #30DaysOf10 is about. With both doses of vaccines behind us, we are looking forward to resuming routines.

Before we get too far into April, let’s recap the things that kept us busy, busy, busy in March.

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED IN MARCH

McD Delivery Days

Jess thrives on routines and over the past year we’ve had to make adjustments to many of them. Instead of sleepovers with my parents (Nonnie and Granddad), they now bring a McDonald’s delivery of hashbrowns and a buttermilk chicken biscuit for Jess once week.  Jess, Zoe, and I are equally happy to see them. Soon everyone will have had their two vaccines and weekly sleepovers can return to the agenda!

Independence skills

Jess is testimony to the fact that learning never stops as she continues to make progress on her independence skills. “If you can, you should” is my motto with Jess. On several occasions Jessica practiced her cooking skills this month, including making Mexican Casserole with Hannah as well as “bloney” (bologna) and scrambled eggs. Jess also demonstrated her “one more” crispy making skills.

PO Days

Post Office Days (PO Days). Hate em (me, sometimes) or love em (Jess, always), we are so grateful for the kindness and generosity of our #goodonesfam. Jess’ genuine enthusiasm and appreciation make it all worthwhile and many of you have also shared your enjoyment at watching these weekly shares. Thank you for your generosity and your interest.

Lives

If Jessica had her way, we would do a livestream every day. This month, in addition to our weekly Club Crispy Instragram Lives, we did our first Club Crispy Zoom, and two each of the big YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram lives! We even had BadDaddy join us for some.  Jessica very much enjoys interacting with all of you. As Jess will say “Thank you for enjoying [joining] me”.

Hobbies

Soon, ‘water days’ will be back on the agenda. In the meantime, the main hobbies around here are flipping cards, coloring books, and listening to CDs (#dirtygarbagerapcrap and children’s CDs are her favorites). If you haven’t seen Jess rocking out, I highly recommend this Instagram classic. Listening to Disney resort tv, browsing real estate, and of course loving on Zoe are also favorite pastimes.

As for me, I enjoy gardening and have recently started a #shorts feature on our YouTube channel.  If you have suggestions for a favorite, please let me know.
