“WATCH IT, WATCH IT!”
THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER FOR AUTISTIC INTERPRETATIONS®
Welcome! I am Val. My adult daughter Jess and I live together and have a loving and fun relationship. We share our daily adventures, travels, struggles, and the strong loving village that surrounds us.

Welcome to June, also known as the beginning of summer in our house. Hannah has finished another year with her students as a sign language interpreter. We have lots planned for this summer. But first, see if you agree whether May was brought to us by the letter ‘D’…
HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED IN MAY
D is for Disney
May got started with three of us (Jess, BadDaddy, and me) heading to Walt Disney World for the week. We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort. I set a goal of #30DaysOfDisney. So far, in addition to lots of Instagram and Facebook bideos, I’m at 20 YouTube videos.
Of course we had lots of ride videos! Jessica has quite an adventurous spirit and we went on most of the rides. Expedition Everest was one of Jessica’s favorites this time. Splash Mountain lived up to its name and I got thoroughly soaked. And, if you watch only one rides video, based on YouTube comments, I recommend “Oh My Gosh I’m Driving – Test Track”.
But, it wasn’t just ride videos, I shared a bit about logistics including why we use a wheelchair with Jess, packing, from parking lot to Magic Kingdom, eats, etc. While I didn’t squeeze it all into 30 days, I do have lots more Disney footage to go through, edit, and post, eventually.
D is for Deck
A huge thank you to my brother for designing and building our deck with help from Granddad, my sister-in-law, and nephew. Thank you also to everyone who generously donated. We are so looking forward to a summer of water days and family get-togethers. We enjoyed celebrating with family and many of you with a Pool Party YouTube livestream.
D is for Daryl
We were thrilled to welcome Hannah’s new poodle puppy, Daryl, to the family. Daryl is a half-brother to Zoe. He is a confident puppy and just fits right in. I don’t know who is more excited Hannah or Zoe. Jess is working through her tactile defensiveness and making great progress on adjusting to Daryl.
D is for Doctor
We are relieved to have Jessica’s yearly shunt check behind us. As is always the case, this causes extreme anxiety for Jessica, but it passes quickly after the appointment is over. To read more about Jessica’s shunt, check out this blog entry and this one explaining how the shunt has helped Jessica.
Zoe had her spay appointment and after a couple of days of strict activity restrictions, she’s back to herself. And then we have Abby who is making progress recovering from old-dog vestibular disease which led to a recent fall.
D is for Dear Crispies
Our supporter group, Club Crispy continued to grow and our May ‘meetings’ were full of the usual laughter and the occasional chainsaw impression by Jess. A special treat was meeting up with Crispie Amy while we were at Disney World.
We have some pretty creative Crispies with us. One of our Crispies is behind those great graphics you see at the beginning of our YouTube videos, and she even made a special Disney edition. Another entertained us with daily selfies and ’30 days of Disney facts’. Who knew there were 122 animatronics in Pirates of Caribbean? And, if you enjoy our shop, we’ve got some talented Crispies designing some more goodies!
D is for @DoStuffGoPlaces
My DoStuffGoPlaces Instagram account has been pretty quiet over the past year, but our Disney trip added and will be adding some more to the collection. Also, I have a little trip planned in June and I’m looking forward to posting some more photos then.

Val, I wasnt even aware you had a news letter. I don’t know how you find the time and the energy to compile everything on to so many social media sites. And on top of that you’re going non-stop at home and helping Jess, you are truly one good human and mother. ❤️
Thank you!
