“WATCH IT, WATCH IT!”
THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER FOR AUTISTIC INTERPRETATIONS®
Welcome! I am Val. My adult daughter Jess and I live together and have a loving and fun relationship. We share our daily adventures, travels, struggles, and the strong loving village that surrounds us.
Hey hey hey, we’re back! It’s been almost exactly one whole year since our last installment of our ‘monthly’ newsletter. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to return to some routines from this time last year. Although it’s a little late for new year’s resolutions, I’m resolving on monthly newsletters for the remainder of 2021.
If the last year has taught me anything, it is the value of community (and the technology that connects us!). We are so grateful for all of you. Let’s start by catching up and looking back over the last 12 months:
SINCE LAST TIME
March 2020
Social distancing created all sorts of adjustments and new routines, but water days were thankfully still on the agenda for 2020. ‘Pool day’ season can start as early as March and keeps Jess busy busy busy with her favorite pastime. As I mentioned in a recent Q&A on YouTube, Jess loves water, and ‘pool days’ are her favorite.
April 2020
Grocery deliveries by #baddaddy, remote cooking with Nonnie, Easter egg decorating, shredding and practicing independence skills kept us busy in April.
May 2020
Masks. The new normal. And Jess has some creative ways of wearing masks, but after some practice we felt comfortable enough to finally make some community outings .
June 2020
Endless water days and a trip to the ER. Headaches and high blood pressure unfortunately meant a trip to the ER for Jessica to put this worrying mama’s heart at ease. Fortunately we also had lots of fun with water days, including this one.
July 2020
Busy, busy, busy, honey! Jess helped Hannah make doodads (recipe), puppy news and tubing adventures!
August 2020
August was all about Zoe: Welcome Zoe the wonder poodle pup. We were thrilled with how quickly Jess and Zoe adapted to each other.
September 2020
I put my nursing skills to good use in September when we found out Jess had shingles and my dear Hannah recovered from her neck surgery.
October 2020
We’re so glad for our #goodones, though we had to explain to some that when it comes to Jess’ hair, it’s “her hair, her rules“
November 2020
We were thankful for a good visit with my son, Madison, and his wife over Thanksgiving. In between meal prep and eating, I paused to reflect on 30 things I’m grateful for.
December 2020
Hannah and I challenged ourselves to vlogmas… If you missed them or would like to rewatch some of your favorites, check them out on our vlogmas YouTube playlist.
January 2021
No recap is complete without mentioning “PO Days“. A sincere thank you to all our followers. Whether on Granddad and Nonnie’s porch or on our couch, Thursdays have become a highlight of the week for Jess.
February 2021
An impromptu trip to DisneyWorld! And that definitely perked my Bessie up. Check out our Walt Disney World Fun -2021 on YouTube. Which one is your favorite?
