“WATCH IT, WATCH IT!”
THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER FOR AUTISTIC INTERPRETATIONS®
Welcome! I am Val. My adult daughter Jess and I live together and have a loving and fun relationship. We share our daily adventures, travels, struggles, and the strong loving village that surrounds us.

There went 30 days: 30 days of April and 30 days of 10. I don’t know which was harder on me, the pollen or the #30DaysOf10 challenge! I am ready for a vacation.
Before we completely shut the door on April, let’s recap the things that kept us busy, busy, busy in April.
HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED IN APRIL
Vlogging
Jess has really taken an interest in the idea that she is a vlogger. In Club Crispy, she’s been making pretty regular contributions. I expect you’ll see more of her, as you did in this recent post. Jess quite enjoys telling us “here’s the plan”. Thursdays have become ‘thank you’ days and I remind Jess it’s her #goodones saying thank you for making videos. It’s important to any of us, including Jess, to have a feeling of accomplishment.
And, while I’m bragging on my daughters, how about Hannah’s Q&A video? She really is as lovely and kindhearted as she appears.
#30DaysOf10
Phew! 30 days of 10 things was way harder than it sounded in March. I appreciate many of you sharing your goals and I think most of us found it hard, but I learned 7/10 is better than 3/10, and 3/10 is better than none. While I felt like a failure on some days, as I mentioned in my Day 6 update, I focused on giving myself grace. And, I did manage to do at least one thing every day on my list.
New Old Routines
With second shot of vaccines behind us, we are able to visit a little more. So many of you have commented on seeing a new spark in Jess. Jess has been able to spend some more time with Nonnie and Granddad, including a trip to beloved McKay’s with Granddad reading dirty garbage rap CD artists is a highlight of April for many of us. Check it out if you haven’t already! We also enjoyed some family time at a nearby park.
The Great Outdoors
Warmer temperatures allowed for visiting outdoors, but also brought pollen and I’ve sniffled my way through April. When it comes to pollen, “she just don’t need it!”. We haven’t quite got the pool out yet, but Jess did finally get to enjoy her favorite thing in the world… water day! And, thanks to Granddad, my brother, and my nephew, we have good start on our pool deck. The deck construction project has Jess hoping for her very own chainsaw. But, don’t worry, when she says she intends to cut down a tree, she’s just jokin’!
Thank you Club Crispy
Our Club Crispy welcomed even more new members, and every time we do, the whole Crispy family celebrates. We’ve become a tight group of friends and we have ‘meetings’ (as Jess calls them) most Tuesday evenings via Instagram Live. Their support means the world to me. Club Crispy is not only a place to sound out ideas and share laughs, but it has let me focus on caring for Jess and sharing our lives.
